Google's doodle pays tribute to Minto
Google has released a doodle to pay tribute to the great novelist of the subcontinent, Saadat Hassan Manto, on his 108th birthday.Manto was known for his stories on the partition of the subcontinent. He was born on May 11, 1912, into a middle-class Muslim family.At the age of 20, he translated short stories written in Russian, French and English into Urdu, after which he began writing short stories himself.In his career, Manto has written a collection of 22 short stories, a novel, and five series of radio dramas.
Films on his life were also made in Bollywood and Pakistani entertainment industry which became very popular.
Last year, the Bollywood film 'Manto' also won an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film was directed by Nandita Das and starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
In Pakistan, Sarmad Khost made the film Manto while he himself played the lead role in it.
